Here at Yadkin Well Company, we’re proud to offer geothermal drilling services that make it easier to create sustainable homes without sacrificing comfort. When geothermal drilling is done properly, homeowners can rely on their upgraded system for decades, all while enjoying lower utility bills and a more eco-friendly lifestyle.
If you’re curious about the geothermal drilling process or want to know what to expect during your upcoming consultation, we’ve outlined the key steps below.
- Site Evaluation – First, our team will carefully assess the available space, the soil and rock composition, and any nearby utility lines that will need to be avoided. If the site is deemed suitable for geothermal drilling, we’ll begin acquiring the necessary permits.
- Determine Drilling Site – We’ll carefully identify the safest and most accessible area on the property for our drill rig. We strive to choose locations that minimize disruption to surrounding neighbors.
- System Design – We’ll determine the number and depth of boreholes needed to adequately meet the building’s heating and cooling needs.
- Drill the Boreholes – Carefully monitoring the drilling progress, we will drill straight into the earth until we reach the specified depth while avoiding any hidden obstacles, such as dense layers of rock or old infrastructure.
- Install Pipes – After drilling the boreholes, we’ll install pipes filled with an antifreeze solution, which will circulate throughout the pipes to absorb or release heat as needed to keep the home comfortable. Then, we’ll connect the pipes to the heat pump inside the house.
- Test the System – Our team will thoroughly test the new system to make sure it works reliably, the fluid circulates properly, and the thermostat is functioning.
